Interview with Terri Bingham

For Terri Bingham, art is more than a passion - it’s a necessity. A self-taught artist based in Kent, she has always felt a deep connection to creativity. She uses painting and drawing to explore and express herself. Constantly evolving, she moves between abstract and figurative styles, often blending the two to capture emotion and energy in her work.

Never one to focus on a single piece at a time, Terri works on multiple projects simultaneously, allowing each to inspire the next. Her art journey is one of self-discovery, where every brushstroke reflects both exploration and intuition.

We caught up with Terri to discuss her inspirations, creative process, and why System3 Acrylics remains her go-to choice.

What inspired you to pick up a brush and start painting?

Life, sometimes we need to just breathe, stop and enjoy the small details.

When did your love of art start? Did you always want to be an artist?

From a very young age, I don’t ever remember not wanting to just sit and draw. It’s a part of who I am and I feel extremely grateful every day that I have the opportunity to create.

What would be your advice for new artists just starting up?

Just go for it! Experiment and just have fun!

What is the best tip you were told early in your career?

Create for you. It’s about how art makes you feel.

How has social media/sites like Patreon helped your career?

I'm still on my art journey but social media has been great to get my work seen so far.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Emotion, energy and natural elements.

What is your favourite Daler-Rowney product and why?

System3 Acrylic Paint: they are my go-to acrylics! I love just working with them!! Easy to blend, versatile and the colours are so vibrant.

What is a technique that you haven't tried yet that you would love to try & why?

Clay sculpting. It would be messy but really fun!!
