The materials in your kit

1 x Simply Graphite Pencil HB
Simply Colouring Pencils
Simply Oil Pastels
1 x A5 Pastel Paper

Your step by step guide

Step 1
Drawing the bird

Using the Simply graphite pencil on the sheet of paper, trace the outline of a bird on a tree branch.

Colouring in the bird

With the coloured pencil, colour the head, the back and the tail.

Do not hesitate to detail the legs with the black pencil as well.

Body of the bird
Using the red and orange oil pastels, start colouring the bird's chest in small dabs.
With the grey and black oil pastels, the shade under the wing to give more volume to the body of the bird.
With the coloured pencil, accentuate the bird's beak and legs to give it more presence

The branch
With the brown pencil, colour in the branch.
To give more volume to the branch, draw concentric lines as in the demonstration - a very simple idea that always allows for successful colouring of a branch!

The leaves
Using the green coloured pencil, draw leaves at the ends of the branch. Vary the greens from dark to light to create two-tone foliage.

Background
With the oil pastels, draw random curls from the bird to the ends of the sheet of paper. This very fun technique allows you to give a really more energetic and modern side to the creation. Vary the colours of the curls to give more sparkle to the bird and thus make the sky much more present.
