How to Paint Christmas Jumpers with Gouache Paints

Learn how to paint christmas jumpers with Simply Gouache Paint by using this step-by-step guide created by Daler-Rowney artist Amylee Paris, and is easy for beginners to follow and explore using gouache paint!

Step 1

Colourful Paper

Take several sheets of paper. Using the flat tip brush, apply gouache paint to the entire surface of the paper. Repeat the process on several sheets whilst changing the colour. Let it dry.

Great To Know: Don't hesitate to paint in a zigzag pattern with the brush, this technique gives beautiful effects when drying!

Step 2

Cut Out The Template

Then take a blank sheet of paper and use a graphite pencil to draw shape of a jumper in the middle of the paper. With a pair of scissors cut out the outline.

Step 3

Design The Jumper

Using shape of the jumper, draw the outlines on the dry painted paper.

Step 4

Cut Out The Paper Jumper

Following the graphite pencil outlines, cut out the jumper.

Step 5

Cut Out Decorative Ornaments

Cut out decorative ornaments from the coloured paper scraps then add to the jumper. Using a glue stick to attach ornament to each jumper.

Step 6

Knitted Jumper

Using the markers, create additional patterns to give the jumper a more knitted look.

Step 7

The Hanger

To make the jumper hanger, take some wire, bend it and tape it to the back of the jumper.

Step 8

Ready To Hung Up

Et voilà, each jumper has its own hanger, all that's left is to find a Christmas tree branch to hang them on!
