Daler-Rowney x South Hill Park
Based in Bracknell, South Hill Park Arts Centre (Reg Charity – 265656) is a welcoming public venue, offering diverse experiences and opportunities for the whole community. Annually this includes over 300 shows, films and events and 250+ courses and workshops.
The Trust’s core purpose is to inspire, connect and enrich lives through the creative arts. As a charity, any profits are channelled back into providing inclusive opportunities for anyone to be able to engage with the arts and enjoy the benefits.
Daler Rowney Marketing Manager Cedric Grossman says:
‘When we saw the work South Hill Park was doing, we really wanted to build a relationship, because we saw what they were doing for the local community, helping a very diverse local audience to access art.
‘Yes it gives people a window to access to our products, but it’s mostly about being able to positively impact on our local community, making art accessible to everyone. That is really close to our own mission.’
‘You can see the importance art can have for children who will go on to become scientists, mathematicians, technologists or engineers. Art is really powerful for everyone, whether it’s helping someone to escape their challenges or just help them think differently about something, it definitely has an impact on well being.’
Most recently, Daler Rowney supported South Hill Park’s Summer of Fun Project. Research shows that up to half of school children spend their summer indoors, due to the cost of outside-school experiences, and this project set out to offer a series of free or low cost arts activities through the summer holidays to our local community.
The Summer of Fun project, particularly aimed at low-income families, ran across 5 locations in the local area as well as at South Hill Park, with over 950 children taking part in creative activities including samba drumming, clay modelling, painting, 3D paper crafts, traditional rangoli sand art and bollyfitness dance.
98% of respondents said that the workshops inspired them or their child to try more creative activities:
‘Thank you for a brilliant relaxed creative session. Please run again - our family loved it!’
‘Really well organised and enthusiastic team - thank you, my son loved it’
‘My favourite part of the activity was the resources available and the opportunity to be creative and explore fun ideas’
Margaretha Welsford, Director of Sales & Marketing said:
‘As a not-for-profit organisation, South Hill Park relies on the support of our community and we are immensely grateful for the contribution from Daler-Rowney which helped enrich our local families’ summer memories.’
