By its very nature, oil colour is incompatible with water and dissolves only in turpentine, white spirit or low-odour thinners. Our main oil mediums are an alternative to traditional oil mediums and are specially developed art mediums for water mixable oils. The Simply Mediums complement oil paints along with acrylics and watercolours.

These mediums work particularly well with the Simply range and can be used to add a gloss or matt finish to the artwork, change the texture or fluidity of the paint as well as for pouring or dipping techniques. The Georgian Water Mixable Oil Medium set allows artists to experience oil painting without the need for solvent-based mediums.

There are four mediums within the set: an oil to make the paints water mixable, Linseed oil to thin the paint and increase drying time as well as give a glossy finish, a stand oil to enhance fluidity and a fast-drying medium to speed up the drying time. The Georgian Oil mediums also include diluents, varnishes as well as oil mediums to change the colour properties of the paint.

The varnishes have been created to protect finished artworks and enable painters to retouch, while the diluents have been designed to thin the oil paint, making them dry quicker.
