Invincible by Julie Nash

'Invincible' by Julie Nash - Acrylic -
This portrait commemorates the retirement of 22-year old Police Horse Invincible. He is an interesting colour to paint and I loved the slightly ‘punk’ look to his shaved mane and forelock. It gives him a kind of street cool. This shaved look is a badge of office for older police horses as it was standard practice until a few years ago, so only the older mounts sport this particular haircut. I used 300gms rough watercolour paper.
