Coronation Fiord, Baff in Island, Nunavut, Eastern Canadian Arctic

NOTES OF INTEREST:
1. “Great Glacier” will be the centrepiece of the Into the Arctic Collection.
2. Final painting might be the largest landscape painting ever created from the Canadian Arctic, and Cory’s largest as well.
3. The scene depicts Coronation Glacier, 4km wide where it meets the ocean, with mile high mountains rising on each side. In the distance rises the Penny Ice Cap, the southern most major ice cap of the Canadian Arctic covering 6000km2 of land with a layer of ice and snow almost a kilometre thick.

Study: 16” x 6”, oil on linen. Final painting in progress: 180” x 66” (15’ x 5’5”)
