Screw cap failure on Cryla tubes

I have over thirty tubes of System 3 Cryla colours in 75 ml tubes. Some of them are over two years old and function well. However, I wonder if anyone else has encountered a problem with the screw caps on the more recently purchased tubes simply shearing off during normal opening and closing? I now have 7 nearly new tubes of paint sporting kitchen foil caps to stop them drying out, because of the inadequacy of their screw caps. This is very inconvenient, yet my retailer is unable to suggest any remedy whatsoever, nor tell me where I might obtain replacement caps. Not good enough Daler-Rowney, but I'll wait for comments before changing to another brand.

Re: System 3 caps

Hi everybody,

We are aware of this problem of breaking caps and have fixed it. Unfortunately some bad caps (the ones which went to distribution before we noticed this problem) are still on the market, but we are happy to supply new caps to everyone who had troubles.
Please send us an email with your name and address and explaining that your caps are broken. Do not forget to precise what tubes they are and if the tube has dried out.

Here is the address to send the emails:
webmaster@daler-rowney.com

Mitch, I'm sorry that you haven't already received an answer. If you please send your email again, we will deal with it quickly.

Kind regards,
Daler-Rowney

system 3 caps

I have emailed Daler-Rowney for at least 4 replacement caps and have had no response. If you are going to stand by your product, the least you can do is communicate your intentions. Are you or are you not going to replace my caps? Thank you.

System 3 caps breakage

Hi,
My system 3 caps have the same problem too. They broke into two parts, one stuck to the tube opening and the other is just a cap without the screw thread. I have only opened them 2-3 times and they broke. I could send in some photos if required to, and because Im no longer at that country where I bought them from, I couldn't go back for an exchange. My tubes have dried up at the opening, especially the one with a thicker formula. My other acrylics of other brands have no such problem, so I don't think it is the way i use it. Do let me know what could be done with them or if replacement is possible.

Regards,
Xiu

screw caps

Hi,
I had the same issue with System 3 caps.
Apparently they fixed the problem a while ago with their supplier but there are still a few tubes out there that can be faulty, so they explained.
When I mentioned it, they kindly replaced all caps without questions. They were very professional.
Cheers,
Ed

Screw Cap Failure on System3 Acrylic 75 Tubes

I have a set of 8 of these - my first acrylic paints - but was most dissatisfied to find that 4 of the 8 have already broken, despite careful usage. I previously used watercolours for a number of years and had no problems with screw caps from various suppliers.

Can you supply me with a set of new caps which will not break please?! Or. even better, with replacement tubes as the broken ones have dried up at the top and I have to "dig" with a screwdriver to get to liquid paint! (I would be happy to return the broken tubes.) I would also like some re-assurance that this problem has been resolved so that I can buy replacement tubes with some confidence.

Looking forward to hearing from your Product Support Team,

Best wishes

screw caps on cryla tubes

I have found the same problem - the caps just break off with no pressure applied, simply undoing them. Cling film helps, but doesn't prevent paint escaping from the tubes and messing things up. What a pain and a waste. Daler Rowney, please improve this cheap bit of manufacturing.

Support

Hello Mike,

Sorry to hear that you are having a bad experience with a product of ours.

Please could you send an email with the information below:

Your Name & Address.
What tubes have dried out (if any).

We will send you some replacement caps and tubes if any have dried out.

Send the email to: webmaster@daler-rowney.com

Best Regards.

Split cap

Although my caps have not sheared off totally i do have a couple that have split where the overhanging part of the cap joins the narrower shaft that contains the screw thread. This means the seal is no longer air tight and i have to put cling film over the opening before i put the cap on. If you have stocks of caps i would be super grateful for a couple.

Steve
