Step 1

Step 1
Under Painting

Blocking in colours and tones.
(Not sure about the blue background)

Step 2 Step 2
Beginning to build up in chest and cheeks

Background strengthened.

 Step 3

Step 3
A closer look at work around the whisker follicles

(The blue is still niggling- think it might be worse now it’s stronger)

Step 4

Step 4
Changed background colour

The blue had been niggling at me, so scummbled a soft purple over it… Done a bit of modeling on the nose.

 Step 5

Step 5
Working around the forehead

Deepened the colour on the crown and ears.

Step 6

Step 6
Bit more work on the eyes

Layers of colour develop depth and translucency. Highlights left until later.

 Step 7

Step 7
Center forehead

Short strokes of alternating pale and dark tones create the fluffy pattern.

Step 8 Step 8
A closer look at detail of forehead
 Step 9

Step 9
Continuing across the forehead

Using the same colours and layering technique.

Step 10

Step 10
Fur refined with more layering (small round brush)

Ear hairs built up. Eye colour deepened in the shadows and highlights added.

 Step 11

Step 11
Side of the face

Continue layering  as before. Remember to make brush strokes follow the direction of the fur.

Step 12

Step 12
Almost there

Just a few finishing touches left now (whiskers, signature, final little hairs and highlights here and there).

Final Painting

Final Painting!!

Ta dahh!

(sigh of relief)
