In Kind Direct - Summer of Play
Founded in 1996 by HM King Charles III, In Kind Direct is a UK charity who believes everyone deserves access to life’s essentials and that no usable product should go to waste.
By offering a simple and free solution to product giving, In Kind Direct receives donated consumer products, which they then sort, store, and distribute directly to their network of over 6,500 charitable organisations across the UK, including community groups, foodbanks and schools.
In Kind Direct helps charitable organisations' services go further and support communities experiencing a wide range of social issues, from hygiene poverty and domestic abuse to unemployment, homelessness and mental health issues. In their most recent survey, 77% of the charities supported say that In Kind Direct provides access to otherwise unaffordable essentials.
Alongside essential hygiene products that are needed throughout the year, In Kind Directs ran a Summer of Play campaign which Daler-Rowney supported this year.
The summer holidays should be a time for children to look forward to, to have fun, freedom and time with friends. We believe every child should have the opportunity to play during the summer months and go back to school or start nursery equipped ready to learn, and that no one feels alone when trying to walk the ‘tightrope’. We are excited to be working with Save the Children and a range of other partners to ensure children and their families are supported throughout the summer holidays, with arts and crafts they need to play, learn and live well.
We have directly heard of the difference that In Kind Direct, fuelled by partner product donations has made to lives.
“It is so great to be able to access arts and crafts, these are invaluable for our older children and especially for our out-of-school and holiday clubs.”
“Our art classes are incredibly valued by the people we support. It gives them an avenue to express their emotions through creativity, connect with others and is a great way to reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. Through In Kind Direct, we’re able to access a range of art supplies to help keep our sessions going.”
