Charlie Evans is a British artist born in Yorkshire. During an early career in catering, he discovered a love of painting and was commissioned by the National Coal Board to paint pictures for their boardrooms. As soon as he could, Charlie went to Lincoln Art College but it was hard to make a living, in those days, as an artist. Leaving the RAF and relocating to Northumberland gave Charlie the impetus to develop a career in art, painting and teaching. Well-known from his long-running TV series and for his art classes, which are run all over the UK, his exuberant and informal personality is reflected in his paintings, which have a lightness and simplicity that many artists aspire to. Charlie, who is the author of several bestselling books, represents Daler-Rowney wherever he goes and believes they provide the best art materials available.
