Kaye Parmenter

I am a watercolour artist whose works are expressive, capturing the spirit of an occasion, or the personality of an animal or character. The inspiration for me is more to do with capturing the essence of the moment, rather than the subject itself. Although I primarily work in the medium of watercolour on paper, I also use acrylic on canvas to obtain a bolder effect in subjects such as polo.

I have received the Chairman’s Choice Award at the Bath and West Show in 2009, and one of my watercolours “Porthpean” was voted “Best in the Show” at the Leigh Art Exhibition two years later. Earlier this year, I received an Honorary Mention and was awarded a prize at Art Has No Borders. One of my primate images of renowned monkey “Rodders” at ape rescue centre, Monkey World, raised hundred of pounds for the Jim Cronin Memorial Fund. An auction of another set of my watercolours went to support the charity Help for Heroes.

I have held solo exhibitions as well as at mixed gallery showings. Most recently I exhibited at Queens Club London during the Aegon Championships, showing a series of sporting portraits of professionals and members of the club. I am resident artist at the King John Inn, Tollard Royal, for shooting themed paintings and also resident artist for British Polo Day. My work will be featuring in the festive season this year with four of my designs having been selected for Christmas cards by the Household Cavalry Foundation. I also offer online tuition via my website.
