Rosemarie Donaldson

I am a self taught artist; I did dabble a little in painting over the years, but have taken art up seriously after retiring from our business and our farm around 4 years ago. My recent painting is a 30 ins by 36 ins ( 77 cm by 92 cm) on a box canvas and of cause all painted with Rowney oils.

I named it 'Lorelei'. I was inspired by my cruise down the Rhine about 2 years ago on my way to my homeland Bremen Germany and of cause the Lorelei story. I did not paint her with blond hair as the story goes, I felt that would be too glaring in the dark painting, so I used the artist license.
My love is for painting the sea and the human form together, I tried to convey the story in the painting of the Siren.

Second painting is the 'Song of the Eagle' of cause another one inspired by the American Indian a 19 ins by 14 ins (36 cm by 49 cm) canvas on board. The third painting is a bit of a whimsical painting 'The peaceful Valley', started of with a scene from a place in North Queensland the tropics, but ended up completely different, again the artist license at work. It is a 24 ins by 48 ins ( 61 cm by 123 cm) canvas on board. Last one is 'Sundown' at the sea 24 ins by 30 ins (61 cm by 76 cm) box canvas.
