James Nash

I was born in 1978, near Sherborne, Dorset, surrounded by the unspoilt and ancient landscape of the Jurassic coast. It was here where the rural environment provided inspiration for my work, with the diverse Flora and Fauna leading to a passion for native British wildlife and the protection of the fast disappearing rural Britain. In addition, having been brought up with both domestic and wild animals, I strive to treat each with the same degree of respect and care as I give to human beings, learning their individual traits, characteristics and personalities which I subsequently try to capture in my work.
A self taught artist I started my career in 1997, as senior graphic designer and illustrator for GKN Aerospace, moving into Engineering and working my way through management, I moved to Bristol in 2006 taking a position with Airbus as head of Flight Test and Final Assembly Line Planning for the A330/340 Aircraft, progressing through to Programme Team Leader and moving aircraft types to become project manager for the the all new composite A350 wings in 2010.
In 2007 I met my wife Sarah through Airbus. An engineer with a PH.d in rocket propulsion she continues to be supportive of my artistic endeavours and shares my love of rural Britain. In 2013 we decided to trade Bristol for Hampshire, and our beautiful Holly Tree Cottage which we have just lovingly restored.
I think that my passion for the natural world, travel, and exploration of the more remote places on earth, combined with a good knowledge of the art world, political history, archaeology and paleontology, allow me to better understand that which I study for my artwork placing each piece accurately in time and space. The majority of my work is produced in the field, everything is a depiction of a live subject preferably in its natural habitat.

Please feel free to have a look through my website or keeps tabs on me through facebook. I have a limited number of pieces for sale as most of my work is commission based.

If you have a favourite species of animal or bird, please feel free to discuss potential commissions with me, there is no pressure, I am even happy just to discuss ideas with you!

Most importantly, I hope that you enjoy what you see!!
