This 16x20 pencil drawing of the USS S Dakota at the battle of Santa Cruz was commissioned by a customer interested in this WWII history. I combined a photo of the Dakota taken at the Navy ship yard with historic photos from the battle like the ocean swell, the flak, and the USS Enterprise. (I also added the kamikaze and the smoke on the Dakota.) I used a Blackwing pencil which is 4B pencil on Canson pure-white paper. MikeTheuer.com

This 11x14 watercolor portrait of a house in sun and in shadow was commissioned for the owner by the owner's daughter from the daughter's photo. I tried to heighten the warm glow from the sun with extra 'lemon yellow' on the house and the driveway. I used Daler-Rowney Artist's transparent watercolors on Arches-140-lb-cold-pressed paper.
