I am a self taught contemporary realist painter working with acrylics on canvas.
My main area of study is to take traditional subjects and depict them in a modern style, a wonderful mix of nostalgia and modern day culture.
Based in East Sussex my constant inspiration comes from the colours and textures of my environment resulting in the creation of a diverse variety of subjects including still life and landscapes .
Every painting is taken on as a challenge, eagerly embracing the desire to create it with vivid colour and liveliness.
I love the depth and vibrancy of acrylics and work with very small brushes that allow me to retain a smooth surface on which I can indulge in the fine detail that shows my artwork to be a little bit brighter, a little bit clearer and a little bit more colourful than real life!
My paintings are mainly created from photographs that I take myself. Scenes from a country walk or the fun of setting up a still life composition .
I have several artworks licensed for various products and have enjoyed being featured in national art magazines. My painting “Red, White and Booze” being the winning entry in “the Best of Britain” competition in 2012.
I have a blog where I often show works in progress in the hope of inspiring someone to have a go themselves. http://paula-paintmyworld.blogspot.co.uk/
