Sustainability

At Daler-Rowney, part of the FILA Group, we are committed to operating responsibly and integrating sustainability into our business model and daily operations.

Creating responsibly. Committed to a better future.

As a UK-based manufacturer with a global presence, Daler-Rowney is committed to creating high-quality art materials while minimising environmental impact and upholding ethical business practices.

For more than a decade, we have been reshaping how an art materials company can operate responsibly – from the paints and papers we make to the way our sites are managed. Sustainability now informs every decision we take, with a clear target to become carbon neutral. In 2025, we measured our full carbon footprint and, working alongside climate action partner Ecologi, have begun offsetting while continuing to reduce emissions across our supply chain.

Our Sustainability Plan, part of the wider FILA Group Strategic Plan, aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and places sustainability at the heart of corporate activity. View FILA’s Sustainability Plan.

At Daler-Rowney, sustainability is not a single initiative but an ongoing journey. Explore our projects below, structured around five key objectives – Products, Planet, People, Partnerships, and Economic Sustainability.

Products

Creating high-quality, long-lasting art materials is at the heart of what we do. We’re committed to making them more sustainable – both now and in the future.

Planet

It is vital that we all work towards protecting water-related ecosystems and reducing environmental impacts whilst increasing energy efficiency and the use of clean technologies in manufacturing operations to help combat climate change and reduce our carbon footprint.

People

Our goal is to continue inspiring, valuing and empowering people, fostering expression & inclusivity, diversity and individuality.

Partnerships

Our goal is to continue to work with the local areas & communities and increase our global sustainability partnerships to promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and cultural & artistic learning with educational and cultural activities.

Economic Sustainability

We will continue to secure the future for all stakeholders across the company and create sustainable value in the medium-/long-term whilst implementing sustainability governance in line with best practices.

Goals We're Working Towards

We’ve achieved a lot, but we’re not done yet. Our ongoing goals include:
  • Eliminate single-use plastics
  • Fully recyclable and/or reusable packaging
  • Achieve carbon neutrality
  • Ongoing product and process reviews
  • To ensure that the number of materials recycled is increased, tracking continues, and the ratio of waste disposed/waste recycled is minimised

We continuously review every part of our process and seek better ways to operate – without compromising quality or performance.
